Bandits kidnap 23 teenage girls, widows in Zamfara

Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have kidnapped twenty three females in Damaga District of Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

A resident of the area, Malam Ahmed Mohammed disclosed this in a telephone interview with DAILY POST on Thursday night.

According to him, the incident occurred on Wednesday at about 12:00 pm, when the victims went to the bush in search of firewood.

“The victims were mainly teenage girls and widows but the terrorists set free the children among them.

“As I am talking to you, twenty three of them are now in captivity,” he said.

The bandits also invaded Talata Madara town, the headquarters of Talata Madara Local Government Area of Zamfara State and kidnapped ten staff of a road construction company, Triacta.

A resident of the area, Malam Abdulrahman Yusuf, disclosed that the hoodlums stormed the town at about 11:00 pm on Wednesday and began shooting sporadically.

He added that they went straight to the house of a former member representing Talata Madara and Anka in the House of Representatives, Hon. Kabiru Classic.

“The bandits were successfully chased out by the military after spending one and a half hours operating in the town,” he said.

However, efforts to get response from the State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Yazeed Abubakar proved unsuccessful as all his telephone lines were not reachable.
