Fire razes shops in Agbeni market Ibadan

An inferno has reportedly razed some shops in the market in Agbeni market, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The market which is located in the heart of Ibadan is the wholesale depot for all manner of beverages and drugs in the state

The number of shops affected by the early Sunday morning fire is still unknown as of the time of filing this report.

Oyo State Fire Service has, however, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST.

General Manager of the state fire service, Rev Canon Yemi Akinyinka, explained that the agency received a distress call from a security man in one of the banks in the market.

He added that everything has been put under control.

“The agency received the distress call at exactly 04:37hrs through Mr Sunday Ogundele a security man at Access Bank in Agbeni market.

“Our men are still battling with the job, we are grateful to the Central Bank of Nigeria for allowing us use their water supply.

“They are still going to CBN to replenish. Everything is under control, sir”.
