George Santos — the serial liar and alleged felon who was kicked out of Congress in December — says he’s running for Congress again.

The disgraced former New York representative made a surprise appearance at President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on Thursday. He sported a bedazzled collar, and shortly after the address commenced posted on X, formerly Twitter, that he is running for Congress again.

“I just witnessed a weak, frail president deliver spin and lies to the American people from inside the chambers. I have made several personal sacrifices in the name of serving the American people,” he wrote, adding that he will “never back down” and that he is running to replace Republican Rep. Nick LaLota in New York’s 1st Congressional District. “New York hasn’t had a real conservative represent them since I left office arbitrarily, thanks to RINO, empty suits like @nicklalota,” he wrote. “He is a willing to risk the future of our majority and the future of this country for his own political gain.”

Santos previously represented New York’s 3rd Congressional District. Democrat Tom Suozzi defeated Republican Mazi Melesa Pilip in a special election to replace him last month.

John Avlon, the Democrat and founder of The Daily Beast, who recently announced his own run for New York’s 1st, welcomed Santos to the race. “Bring It On,” he wrote.
