The Imo State Police Command has commenced a manhunt for the killers of a retired military officer, Tony Enoch.
Enoch was the Chairman of the Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima Campaign Council Oru East Local Government Area (LGA).
The deceased who was murdered on Tuesday is Governor Hope Uzodimma’s kinsman as both hailed from the same LGA.
On Friday, Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye said he was hit while returning home from a APC stakeholders’ meeting in the Omuma area.
“He was shot dead by suspected members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the armed group of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).”
Okoye told the News Agency of Nigeria that the Commissioner of Police in Imo has ordered a search and the arrest of the assailants.
The armed men were said to have forced the remains of their victim into the boot of his car after taking his life.
After they abandoned the car close to Awo-Omama Technical College, a villager noticed blood dropping from the boot of the vehicle.
The citizen raised alarm which attracted other members of the community to the scene.
