Rave of the moment Paul Onuachu has expressed his gratitude to Nigerians after ending his goal drought for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The KRC Genk forward scored the winning goal as Super Eagles defeated the Squirrels of Benin Republic 1-0 in 2022 AFCON qualifying game at the Stade Charles De Gaulle on Saturday.
The goal was Onuachu’s first for the national team in two years and it also ended a bad run of eight games without a goal in the color of the national team.
Speaking after the game, the gangling striker thanked the Nigerian for standing by him in such a difficult time.
He added that it means a lot to score such an important goal for the country on a day the AFCON ticket has been sealed.
“I’m just going to say, thanks to the nation for the push because they have really pushed me to show what I have to show in the national team. And now I am happy for the team and for the country. It is a lot to score, and I’m very happy.” he said.
