A man has been arrested in Adamawa State while riding a tricycle he allegedly stole.

The state police command, which disclosed this on Thursday, explained that the man, Abba Suleiman, was picked up by police operatives attached to Song Division who were on a confidence building patrol along Bariki Sajo-Song.

The statement, signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, said the 27-year-old Abba is a resident of Gombi, in Gombi Local Government Area north of the state capital, Yola.

The statement said Abba was on his way to hand over the stolen tricycle to a receiver in Jimeta, the administrative and commercial district which together with Yola Town constitute the Yola capital city.

The police statement advised anyone whose tricycle was stolen to contact the Divisional Police Headquarters in Song, near Gombi.

DAILY POST reports that tricycle or Keke NAPEP as is more popularly called, is the commonest means of commercial transportation across Adamawa State.

It is the only form of taxi within the major towns such as Yola, Mubi, and Numan; as well as the means of movement between towns not far apart; while cars, mostly Corolla Starlet models, are used as inter-city commercial vehicles on longer routes such as Yola-Mubi, Yola-Ganye, Yola-Numan, and the like.
